Preview Slasher Dave’s “Exorcisms” vinyl – REVIEW: From beyond the grave of 1970’s horror…comes a new tale of terror. Slasher Dave’s 3rd full length album “Exorcisms” has arrived right in time to scare the sh*t out of all of you! …By the mastermind that brought us “Spookhouse”, “Tomb of Horror”, the “Chubbies” soundtrack, and my personal favorite “Lunatic” (all out on Bellyache records)…comes a tale of possession and demons that leaves you bugged the fk out in a beautiful way. As mentioned on the cover sticker, this album was inspired by the works of Fabio Frizzi and Ennio Morricone and is dedicated to horror legend Wes Craven.
The record arrived in the mail today in beautiful classic black vinyl with a gatefold jacket with really crazy eyes staring back at you on the inside…but then again this IS Slasher Dave we’re talking about. Dave has been mentioned on this site previously, as some of you may recall. (Check the Voyag3r “Are You Synthetic?” review below, and of course all of Shagrat and Dave’s awesome work in the band Acid Witch). I’m not going to sit here and review each track, for I feel this album is quite an experience within itself from start to finish…but, I will point out a few things I found compelling. The second track “Insomnia” truly holds your breath still at points…leaving you gasping for air. Haunting bells surround you at times, making a pleasant surround experience…it then leads into the next track “Day Dreams” seamlessly. One of my favorite parts of the album actually is how those two tracks go together. For the sake of suprise, the only other track I will mention is the last one “Forever’s Lullaby”…. this song starts off with such a beautiful classical style guitar, that although different, gave me the same feeling I get when I hear the song “Dee” by Randy Rhoads. This was by far an amazing song to find at the end of a great album. The guitars were played by Bernie Eldred, who also produced the album with Slasher Dave. Vocals were done by the talented Regan Patricia Lorie. Slasher Dave did the logo’s, artwork and layout design, as well as wrote, composed and sequenced the album. This is why there are Slasher Dave fans though…cause the dude puts out quality.
In my opinion, Dave has set the standard for Horror soundtrack music and I for one can’t wait to hear what he does next… If you can grab anything of his on vinyl I would highly suggest it because it doesn’t last long, and seems to keep rising in value. Funny thing is, you could offer me quadruple of what my Slasher Dave collection is worth and I’d still decline…..it’s that fkn cool. You can pick up Dave’s work from the links below…….Never sleep again…cause Slasher Dave is out for blood!
