Watch the new Aesop Rock video “Dorks” here! Review: Sometimes at the record store there’s that really awesome looking new album that makes you want to buy it just from the cover or packaging alone. Maybe it’s something in the artwork, or specific symbols you may see that speak to you from alternate realms, but it has your your attention. This just happened to me recently with Aesop Rock’s new album “The Impossible Kid”. Aesop has truly out done himself with this one. I admit, I am that record geek that secretly hopes for a limited/color copy if possible. Alas, my vinyl nerdiness has paid off again my friends! Aesop Rock has intelligently gone after vinyl heads everywhere with this super dope release on neon green and pink vinyl, with a GIANT 2 sided poster that rivals any album poster pretty much ever! It’s fkn huge, and has the lyrics printed out in full on the other side. Basically, the cover hidden inside the pyramid opens up to be a much larger and intricate picture. Esoteric? I think so. Props to Alex Pardee for that cover art. I put on side A , got kushy, and was blown away! The production is top notch, and Aesop did it all himself. Lyrics that will make every intelligent lyricist connect, cause the dude just broke into some topics that were beyond esoteric that you swore you would mention in your next verse. Anytime someone speaks of colliding particles in their music, I’m sold. Here’s a short run down of the songs. And seriously, don’t be a dork, get this album…
The flavor on this track is that of the infinite dimensions of space. Jazzy smoothness with tripped out synths and dynamics that are very friendly to the ears.
I feel like I’m spinning on the rings of Saturn from this track. The music is a great new hybrid of EDM, trap, and just straight up chill syle. Roll that blunt and listen up.
If this is where music is heading than I am a happy mother plucker for sure.
This is straight up stoner-hop folks. Done the way it should be. Sick guitars, pianos, etc.
One of my favorite tracks on the album. The guitar riff is dark and eery, love it. Horror Ambience at times and smooth synths make this song pull you into Aesops world quickly.
My favorite track from the album, hands down. Starts off like a Mars Volta song from the 31st century. Your mathematics and equations can’t save you from the craziness
that goes on here…Don’t be suprised if this song knocks you the fk’ out, and you wake up in a padded room with a straight jacket on. Just Sayin’…
Damn dude…didn’t I just pick that last track as my favorite? haha…This is the stuff that Jimi Hendrix would be listening to if he was still around.
Endless suprises in the production and this dude has lyrics for days that will have you going back and disecting.
Melodic and moving, this song has heart.
8-Get out of the car
Poppies prefer to prick the pretty skin in such a pale puncture
It’s a total noogie fest while eating endless cookie puss…This track is a quite a doozy, and I can’t stop listening to it.
I mean…if you don’t know who Kirby is you got problems. I heard there’s puke in the meow mix.
Vision Street Wear shirt (check), Vans on (check), and a new Powell Peralta board (check). Skate or Die…The track is as tuff as it sounds.
The bass line, guitars and synths are mind bending. And I have to give props on the dynamics and production again.
Parts remidning me of some John Frusciante solo music vibes. Chuck D makes a small appearance and that’s just rad.
Sci-fi to the next degree. This dude may seriosuly be from another planet. Alot of the words Aesop is using on this album will
probably go over alot of people’s heads. You can tell the dude is open to the cosmos.
Hmmm….uhhhhh…..I can’t think of words….My soul is truly in bliss, now knowing that music has evolved.
Earthlings have been craving this shit right here. Dab up up, nug down down, left right left right B A start.
Well it’s official, this album never gets bad. I’m on the last track and am still sucked in like a vortex.
16- Syrup (bonus track/mp3)
This song features Homeboy Sandman and Open Mic Eagle. Crazy track, don’t leave the house!
17-Dorks (blockhead remix/bonus track)
This track will have you bobbin your head from start to finish. Good remix
